Welcome to The Eco Echo. Its main purpose is to highlight problems that face our planet from an environmental perspective and to provide information on simple ways to be greener.

As you may be aware the planet has been straining under the stresses the human race has been putting it under for years. If we don't take the right action now we will make life very difficult for the future generations. So difficult in fact that we could wipe out most if not all (in the extreme case) life on this beautiful world. It may not be worth knowing about, as a lot of us living on this planet today may not see huge detrimental effects of global warming, though the children of today and the children born over the next few decades will certainly be affected. Whilst this may seem purely a portent of doom, there are simple ways in which to be greener and to be green and self sufficient can enable you, irrespective of the scale you choose to commit to, to be free from certain trappings of society. For example if you can incorperate alternative energy wind turbines, solar panels etc, into your green dream, you can sidestep price increases from power suppliers and on a similar tack, gardening and harvesting your own food can be a way of having cheap, healthy food.

In the long term, trying to live a life where you have the least impact on the planet, may only prolong things as it could be that the damage has been done, but its possible we could buy ourselves extra time and  find revolutionary technology that can reverse the warming process. Okay it may be a long shot at some kind of utopia but it doesn't hurt to dream and to endeavor to make dreams reality. Taking steps to lower our impact on the planet is in all our interests and for the sake of taking time to consider greener alternatives to standard day to day tasks you can help and it needn't be expensive. As said, one way to be greener is to invest in alternative energy as opposed to environmentaly damaging sources of power,eg fossil fuels, nuclear. These alternative forms of energy are clean and renewable with minimum of environmental impact.  Installing alternative energy and using it efficiently is a fantastically rewarding process as the knowledge that your electricity is clean and not costing the future generations is one of extreme contentment. Additionally and bringing it back to the present you can save on electric bills providing your efficient in your electric usage.

Its impossible to not include alternative energy in this, an environmental website, but not everyone has the capacity to incorporate such forms of power generation. Geographical positioning can cause problems, for example solar and wind power aren't particularly viable if you live at the bottom of a north facing valley(however if your in a valley you'll probably be near a river or stream so a water turbine might work!) Additionally cost can cause problems though I imagine prices will fall on alternative energy supplies as demand   is sure to increase   thus meaning a more competitive pricing system. Taking on board some of the info within The Eco Echo and participating in green activities can be fufilling,  money saving as well as not costing the  Earth. Hope you enjoy browsing the site!
